Anne-Marie Rose Nicholson, known as just Anne-Marie, is a british singer and songwriter.
Born on 7 April 2001 in East Tilbury, Essex, which was where her mother was from, while her father was from Ireland. She has a sister, Samantha. As a child she appeared in two West End productions, Les Misérables when she was 6 years old and Whistle Down The Wind when she was 12, and also featured Jessie J.
At age 9 she took up Shotokan Karate and is a black belt holder in it. Her accomplishments in the field of martial arts includes a double gold win at the 2002 Funakoshi Shotokan Karate Association World Championships, a Gold and a Silver in 2007 Funakoshi Shotokan Karate Association World Championships, and a gold in United Kingdom Traditional Karate Federation National Championships.
She attended Palmer’s College in Thurrock.
Anne-Marie made a solo demo record for Rocket Records in 2013, “Summer Girls”. She also guested on tracks by Magnet Man, Gorgon City and Raized by Wolves. When one of the vocalist of Rudimental left, they asked her to replace her. She featured in four tracks from their second album We the Generation(2015). She toured with this band for two years.
In early June of 2015, Anne-Marie released her debut EP Karate(2015) which went out in the new label Major Tom’s. This led to Anne-Marie to make her first solo-live performance. She released the single “Do It Right” in November that year.

In May of 2016, Anne-Marie released “Alarm” which would be the first single off her debut album. She featured in Clean Bandit’s “Rockabye” as the main vocalist. The song spent nine weeks consecutively at number one and gained that years coveted Christmas Number One.
On the March of 2017 she released “Ciao Adios” and then went on to collaborate with Snakehips on “Either Way”. Toward the end of 2017 she released two more singles “Heavy” in September and “Then” in December.
She collaborated with Marshmello on “Friends” in 2018. On February she announced her debut album Speak Your Mind(2018), releasing singles “2002” which was co-created with Ed Sheeran and “Rewrite the Stars” for The Greatest Showman: Reimagined.
She won the MTV Brand New Award and the Nordoff Robbins O2 Silver Clef Award for Jack Daniel Best Newcomer Award in 2016.
The song Rockabye won iHeartRadio Music Award for best Global Track in 2017.
She won the MTV Video Music Awards Japan’s Best New: International and Video of the Year award in 2018 for “Friends”.
Anne-Marie recently won the 2019 Artist of the Year from Remarkable Women Award and Global Award for Best Pop in 2019.
