Biography and Career

Tom Bateman is a British actor born on March 15, 1989, in Oxford, England. His father is a music teacher and his mother is a primary school teacher. He also has a twin brother and other several brothers and sister. He had a total of fourteen siblings of his own. He was raised in a place called Jericho in Oxford. Bateman went to the Cherwell School in England and later after finishing his school he joined the National Youth Theatre. In 2011, Bateman graduated from London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. He was also honored with the prestigious Leverhulme Scholarship from 2009 to 2011 as a graduate of the University.

After Bateman graduated, he played several small roles in TV show and movies. At the beginning of his career, he played roles in the arrangement “Blue Bloods” and “Remarkable”. In 2012, he played the role of Claudio in the play “Much Ado about Nothing” at the Wyndhams Theatre in London. The movie was produced by critically acclaimed production. In the movie, he worked alongside Catherine Tate and David Tennant and it was released on April 5, 2012. In the same year, in the month of March Bateman appeared in “The Duchess of Malfi” at the Old Vic which was by Jamie Lloyd’s revival of John Webster. In the play, he worked alongside actress Eve Best as her love interest. At the time, there were rumors that he was dating Eve but the pair was very odd as he was 17 years younger than Eve at the time. Bateman has also appeared in of “Lion in winter” produced by Trevor Nunn’s production and worked alongside British actor Robert Lindsay. He played the role of price Richard in the play. Along with that he also appeared in the final season of the drama “Spooks” which was BBC One’s long-running spy. Bateman also played the eponymous role of Will Shakespeare in the play “Shakespeare in Love”.

In 2013, Bateman was offered to be in the cast of “Da Vinci’s Demons”, a historical fantasy drama series. In this series, he played the role of Giuliano de’ Medici who is a dashing bon vivant who enjoys the advantages of his position while letting his older brother face and handle the burdens of leadership. The role of his brother was played by the British actor Elliot Cowan. That same year, he also played the role of Danny Hillier in the movie “The Tunnel” where he worked with actors such as Clémence Poésy and Stephen Dillane, Cédric Vieira. In 2015, he starred in the British TV series titled “Jekyll and Hyde” where he played the title role of Jekyll inherits his grandfather, Dr. Henry Jekyll’s violent alter-ego and split personality. The character possessed superhuman strength, speed and an ability to heal quickly. The series contained 10 episodes and was aired on December 27, 2017.

Currently, on June 15 2017, Bateman appeared in a comedy movie titled “Snatched” alongside actresses Amy Schumer and Goldie Hawn. In the movie he plays the role of the character named James. He also appeared in the movie “Murder on the Orient Express” which was released on November 3, 2017. In the movie, he worked alongside Kenneth Branagh, Penélope Cruz, Willem Dafoe, and Johnny Depp.

Relationship

In 2012, when Bateman was working in the play titled “The Duchess of Malfi”, he met actress Eve Best. In the play, Bateman played the role of Eve’s love interest. However, while having on-stage chemistry the two fell for each other off-stage as well. The pair had intense chemistry on as well as off stage. Unfortunately, the pair never made their relationship public and didn’t confirm their relationship to media. The pair dated only until the play was going and then split up after the play was finished. Many say that the reason for their split up was their age difference as Bateman was 17 years junior to Eve.

In 2014, Bateman started dating British actress Hannah Britland. The pair kept their relationship very private and nobody knew that Bateman was dating at the time. However, after some time he confirmed that he was committed to someone but he didn’t disclose his girlfriend’s name. Though he was not shy to talk about her and said that she was very supportive and forced him to go out with his co-actors to prepare for his role in multiple interviews. From the interviews, I was sure that the pair had unbreakable trust and bond between them. The pair dated for almost two years and broke up at the end of 2016.

In 2017, while working in the movie “Murder on the Orient Express” Bateman fell for his co-actor Daisy Ridley. Daisy is also a British actress who is known for her role of Rey in the 2015 movie “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”. It was claimed that the pair fell for each other on the set of the movie. In the movie, Bateman played the role of Bouc and Daisy played the role of Mary Debenham. Although the pair tried to keep their relationship private and away from media, the producer of the movie spilled the new during the red carpet premiere of the movie in Royal Albert Hall in London.

However, when the two were asked about whether they were dating, Bateman said that the producer just wanted to create a buzz and Daisy refused to comment on the rumors. Daisy also said that her co-star in the new Star Wars movie, Carrie Fisher, told her that it would be very hard for her to find love when your love life in open to the media before she passed away 2 days before last Christmas. The pair were seen together for the first time at the after party of the movie “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” UK premiere. The two were seen having fun and happily partying with each other. The pair seemed to be having a nice time together and keeping close to each other.
