Drake is a Canadian singer, rapper, record producer, songwriter, actor and also an entrepreneur. He was born on October 24, 1986, in Toronto, Ontario. His father Dennis Graham was a drummer who performed alongside the country musician Jerry Lee Lewis and his mother Sandi Graham was an English teacher and a florist. At the age of five, his parents got divorced and his father left for Memphis while her mother stayed in Toronto. During childhood, Drake attended a Jewish day school and also had a Bar Mitzvah ceremony. Also during his childhood, Drake had to see his father getting arrested right in front of him while he was in Memphis. Later his father collaborated with the Canadian band “Arkells” and released a song titled “Drake’s Dad” which explained the events that occurred after he departed from Drake’s life.


In teenage, Drake used to play mini hockey with the Weston Red Wings. In 2000, Drake moved to Forest Hill in the city’s wealthy neighborhood. Later, in an interview when he was asked about the experience he explained “We had a half of a house we could live in. The other people had the top half, we had the bottom half. I lived in the basement, my mom lived on the first floor. It was not big, it was not luxurious. It was what we could afford.” He also attended the Forest Hill Collegiate Institute. Later, he enrolled into the Vaughan Road Academy in the Oakwood-Vaughan neighborhood. According to Drake, he was often bullied in his school because of his racial and religious background. Later, he dropped out of school and graduated later in 2012.

Drake Career

Drake first started his career in acting at the age of 15. He got the role of Jimmy Brooks in a Canadian teen series “Degrassi: The Next Generation” when he met his father’s high school friend who was also an acting agent. Drake continued to play the role until 2007 in 145 episodes. After finishing the show Drake graduated school.

Drake was also interested in music and was greatly inspired by Jay Z and Clipse. In 2006, Drake even released his own debut mixtape titled “Room for Improvement”. The mixtape sold over 6000 copies after its release. The following year, Drake released his second mixtape titled “Comeback Season” which was released under the October’s Very Own label. The song titled “Replacement Girl” was the most popular from the mixtape and was featured on BET making Drake the first ever unsigned Canadian rapper to have a music video featured. Later, Drake was invited to Houston to join the Tha Carter III tour by Jas Prince. During the time, he also got to write multiple songs such as “Ransom”, “I Want This Forever”, and a remix to “Brand New” alongside Lil Wayne.

In 2009, Drake released his third album titled “So Far Gone” which featured other artists such as Trey Songz, Lil Wayne, Bun B, Lloyd, and Omarion. The mixtape was downloaded by more than 2000 people in the first 2 hours of release. The songs “Best I Ever Had” and “Successful” were a major success and was certified gold by the RIAA. The song “Best I Ever Had” also reached number two on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. Later, the mixtape was released again as an EP which consisted of only four of the original songs and two additional songs. The song later debuted on the Billboard 200 chart at number six. He also won his first Rap Record of the Year Award at the 2010 Juno Awards.

Drake was then signed by the Young Money Entertainment. Later, he joined America’s Most Wanted Tour in 2009. Unfortunately, while performing on stage, Drake had an accident an tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. So, he had to undergo a surgery on September 8, 2009. On March 9, 2010, Drake released his first single “Over” from his debut studio album. The song reached number 14 on the Billboard Hot 100. He then released another single “Find Your Love” which was a huge success and reached number 5 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song was also certified Platinum by the RIAA.

On June 15, 2010, Drake released his debut studio album titled “Thank Me Later” which debuted on number one on the Billboard 200 chart. Later, the album became the top-selling debut album of 2010. On September, Drake began his album tour and performed at 78 locations. In an interview, when asked about the album, Drake said “I didn’t get to take the time that I wanted to on that record. I rushed a lot of the songs and sonically I didn’t get to sit with the record and say, ‘I should change this verse.’ Once it was done, it was done. That’s why my new album is called Take Care because I get to take my time this go-round.”

In 2011, Drake released two songs “Dreams Money Can Buy” and “Marvin Room” from his second studio album “Take Care”. The latter one was a hit and was certified gold by the RIAA. The song also reached number 21 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and top ten on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. On August  9, Drake released another single “Headlines” which eventually got certified as platinum by RIAA. The album was then released on November 15, 2011. The album was later certified quadruple platinum by RIAA in 2016. Drake also won the Best Rap Album award at the 55th Annual Grammy Awards.

On September 24, 2013, Drake released his first single off of his third album titled “Nothing Was the Same”. The album reached the top of the US Billboard 200 and also in Canada, Denmark, Australia, and the UK. The song “What a Time Be Alive” from the album was certified platinum by the RIAA. In 2016, Drake announced his fourth album titled “Summer Sixteen” to be released in spring. Later, Drake released the song “Pop Style” and “One Dance” from the album. The latter one was a huge hit and became Drake’s first number one single in the US, United Kingdom, and Canada as a leading artist. The song also reached number one in Germany, France, Australia, Brazil, Belgium, Sweden, Netherlands, and Norway. The album was then released exclusives in iTunes on April 29. Currently, Drake is preparing for his next album.

Drake Relationship

Back in 2000, Drake used the date the Canadian actress Keshia Chante. The two started dating at a very young age when Drake was 13 and Keshia was 11. The two dated for more than 2 years. Later, Drake also wrote a song about her where he says that he is proud to say that she is his ex. In 2002, 15-year-old Drake started dating a girl named Nebby who was an ordinary girl. According to a source, the pair dated for about 4 years.

Drake then briefly dated the American actress Tika Sumpter. According to Tika, the two only went on one date. At the end of the year 2008, Drake dated the American Model Bria Myles for about three months. Drake also wrote a song about her titled “Bria’s Interlude”. The following year, Drake briefly dated another American Model Vanessa Veasley. There were also rumors that Drake got her pregnant, however, after break up, Vanessa dropped the baby. Later, Drake said, “A woman that I messed with unprotected, just texted me and said she wished she would have kept it.” Which most people thought was about her.

Drake and Rihanna date from 2010-2016

Drake has also briefly dated American singer Teyana Taylor. In 2010, Drake started dating American Singer Rihanna. The two collaborated in the song “What’s My Name” for Rihanna’s album “Loud” and in the music video, the two seem to have romantic chemistry between them. The two also performed at the 53rd Grammy Awards where the two were seen very close to each other. However, they never admitted their relationship officially. Later, the two again collaborated in the song “Take Care” in 2012. The music video of the song was quite intimate and the rumors flew that the pair were still together.

In an interview on the Ellen’s show, when asked about dating, Drake admitted that he went on a single date with Kate Dennings and went to Disneyland in disguise with Tyra Banks. In 2016, another song of Drake and Rihanna was released titled “Work”. During the time, the rumors of the two dating sparked once again. Later, in the VMAs, Drake presented her with the Video Vanguard Award and also gave a little speech where he admitted that he loved Rihanna. He also gave her a kiss on the cheek on the stage. However, after the show, the pair were seen a couple of times together but later the pair seemed to have broken up.

After the news of Drake and Rihanna came, Drake had already started dating Jennifer Lopez. The two seemed very serious about their relationship and both of them posted a picture of them cuddling. In the same year, Drake started dating the American Model Bella Hadid. They were seen in multiple dated and enjoying each other’s company. The pair dated for almost a year and broke up.
